My favorite black and white photographer was E.J Belloc because all of his pictures were of women and to felt like he was trying to make them stand out and show women matter as well.
He was Born in 1873 and worked in New Orleans until 1949 when he died. He photos were never discovered until 19 years after he died. Some say his photos were haunting like because of the masks some of the women wore, or how some of their faces were scratched out.
E.J Belloc was a commercial photographer in New Orleans during the First World War I. He also took nut an bolt pictures for the ship in the war. I think that pretty cool because he was helping them and not just taking pictures for his own pleasure. He probably helped a few ships not sink.
Some people who met him said that he was a little weird like not social and didn't really know how to act around people. Because he was so used to old cameras, when new ones came out into the market, he did not understand how to use them. I think that kinda funny because that is how older people are today also with phones and technology. Apparently he had plates and pictures of New Orleans prostitutes and some say it was not for his pictures. That was his secret life. When prostitutes became legal, he took pictures of them and no one knew until he died and they found all the pictures he was taking.
