Africa

1) To be honest, I fell in love with the pictures he took. They looked so good and thought out. They were all black and white, so it really captured the light and shadows.

2)

3) i chose this picture because it puts out a message. Elephants are being killed for their tusks and they are so big compared to man. You get more of a perspective of things from the pictures that he takes.

4) It is obvious that repetition is taking place in the photo. Also rule of thirds because the front guy is not centered and then you can see how many people are there.

5) Brandt works in a hybrid film and digital process. He photographs using film on a Pentax 67 camera with modified lens (creating a soft focus, tilt-shift effect). The film is scanned and toned in the computer before the works are rendered as digital prints.

6) His goal is to take pictures of wild animals and places there before they are destroyed by the hands of man.

7) He hopes to put out that we are destroying their home and that we are creating a worse place for them.

8) "I want my images to achieve two things in this regard - to be an elegy to a world that is tragically vanishing, to make people see what beauty is disappearing. Also, to try and show that animals are sentient creatures equally as worthy of life as humans."- Nick Brandt
