#1 Style

I picked this photo because the other ones i didn't like and because i really like black and white pictures. I see leading lines with the stairs and the line on the wall. Also it i feel like there is a little bit of rule of thirds. I can't find who took the picture.

This article was basically describing what and how to take picture about style. Saying you have to wait for the opportunity and not force it. Also the article said that style changes overtime so you just have to be patient. I liked the website because it was kind off helpful and gave some tips.

I learned that you need to take time and roll with what happens. Good pictures will come natural. It gave tips on what things could help you take pictures.

I picked this picture because it looks mysterious and kind of spooky. Also i like how the bride or something is leading my eyes to the house in the distance and the horizon. there is leading lines in the photo and rule of thirds.

I learned some different style of photography i have never heard of before. Also the website gave me tips on what and how to take those types of pictures. Really liked this website because I think it was very helpful and fun to read things i have not heard o before. It gave me tips on pictures i would never know how to take. 

I think i could use this at school if i wanted to get  long shot. This did not expand my knowledge on adobe computer programming. 

#3   7 Tips to Shooting Great Portrait Photographs

I chose this picture because it calms me and it is so simple it gives you things to think about. There is no color so i feel like you can imagine more then if there was color added to the picture. I like how the background is blurry because then you can focus on his face more.

I have learned some other things in the website for portraits like "Tilting the horizon line". I would not have thought about that because it seems kind of un natural and weird. It also gave advise about babies and how to make things more interesting and give the portraits a spin and not just doing what everyone else does.

We are doing portraits in class so i can use the tips i learned before and now and incorporate that into the project. I also did not learn anything about adobe computer programing from this website.

I chose this photo because the place looks really scary and old. I really like the pictures from abandoned places and when things look really worn down. I feel like it gives excitement and it can leave you thinking about what happened. 

I didn't really learn what to do but it wads cool that he explained where togo for more pictures and why he liked taking them. I think this website was kind of helpful but it defiantly could have been better.

Some things that I saw that I though t was cool that all the pictures had leading lines and it made you look in the center first then you kins looked around on the stairs. The site related to photography by that there were a lot of pictures and it was about taking pictures.

I like this picture because the stairs or walking path looks really old and it doesn't look like there is anything around the place except for old trees and grass.

I liked this website because the way the pictures were laid out it looked really organized and simple.Also it did give some informations about the photographer and why they decided to take pictures the way that they did.

I learned that she took photos of the oldest things on the earth. I think it is cool that she travels around the world just to get the photos. I also learned that she works and travels with biologists to get the photos for her job.

Magazines Part II

1. Image Based
This cover usually has 1 or not to many people on the cover. The person or people would be looking at the camera and sometimes be smiling. Would usually be a celebrity or well known person so they can sell more copies. It depends on what the company wants. IF they are traveling, a pretty background and moving. Or so magazines won't have the person looking at the camera or smiling.

2. Illustration Based
They used to be drawn but now it is to represent something or of rat to be funny. They used to be used in only magazines. Not many magazines are like this. They are to make you laugh or it also could be an illusion cover.


3. Type Based
This is rare, but more common than Illustration Based. The covers usually stand out more or could be surprising. The words should look powerful like they take over the cover. They words are supposed to represent something or


4. Concept Based
This has all three options above. It can incorporate type based and illustration based or anything. They are usually found in business covers, weekly news, or independent magazines. The photography is supposed to be represented in a funny way. They can have a pop of something to draw your eyes towards something.


What is the relationship between words and photos on magazine covers and why is this important?
I think this is important because they can explain something that would be inside of the magazine that you would not have seen from the cover. Also it could list names that you know and that you would d want to read about.

I like this one the best because there is emotion in this picture and things you can infer but also wonder about. I like this cove because I also do boxing and i think this is a really good and cool picture. It doesn't look like it was staged. I would like to read this magazine because it drew my attention it because was at the only one that was black and white. And there wasn't that much to read but you got to see what the magazine is about and what is or might be included.

Something I wonder is the person that he is fighting, but it made me realize that the photo is about him, so there will be articles about him then.

Magazine tips

1. To have vivid colors that stand out and color that all match, or the same color theme.
2. Having the magazine open and not in a bag so people can look through it.
3. Not having a bag on the magazine can make the paper look old or dirty.
4. Have something that will draw the reader in. Have them wonder what is inside.
5. Have the cover easy to scan, short words of whats inside, and pictures of what to expect.

American Soldier

A. What is the most powerful image from the pictures printed in the Denver Post over the three weeks they published images from the year of coverage? Why?

I think it is the Training Under Fire photo because they are getting shot at as well and they have to maintain focus and do things right, and well. It also shows them things that they might be down they are out and actually in  war.

B. How do the images work together to tell a story?

They go through a process. Like what happens first with admitting and training then war. It all flows into one big long story.

C. How do the captions enhance the photographs?

They give information that you might not have seen fro the photo or was not visible. They point things out and show things or make other things stand out that was in the background.

D. Summarize the story of Ian Fisher, based just on the captions.

He left his family and girlfriend to joint the military. He did well but started to get a drug problem and drinking. He fixed the problem and continued to train for war. He get married to his girlfriend when he comes back from Iraq.

E. For the photos in which Ian is the main subject of the photos, in what tense are the verbs usually written?

It is usually writen in present tense.

F. Break down the captions:

1. How many sentences are they on average?
There is anywhere from 2 through about 5.
2. Read the first sentence of a couple of them, what information do they provide?
They state his name then what he is doing.
3. Read the second sentences of a couple of them, what information do they provide?
Gives more information about the picture.
4. If there is a third sentence, what information does it provide?
It sometimes gives a quote of either Fisher or someone else.

Yes

G. Why do you think it is possible to tell a complete story with just photos and captions?

No. I think no because you can get facial expressions and things that are going on but the captions are explaining what is going on in the picture. They can't fit in every little detain and every name in just the caption.

H. If you can create a story with just photos and captions, why bother writing a story at all?

Because you can give more info with a story. You get more names and things that are going on in detail. Captions only explain the picture not everything that is going on.

Funny Captions

The man is on a motorcycle or a scooter and it doesn't look like he has clothes on. He had scheduled a swimming trip with his friends, at the lake. He was racing to get there because of his age, he forgot what time he scheduled the swim.














This hospital is full of pranks and jokes. But sometimes the patients can't see, or forget. This is a famous maze in the hospital, and sometimes the elder people get stuck so they have two get helicopters to get them out.











Emma and Bonni have been friends for as long as you can see. They have done everything together and have always been together through the up's and the down's. They just got back from a night out with their friends to go see a movie. Being as old as they are, you can rule out a scary movie.
